Ever panicked when buying a new smartphone and just bought the first case you’ve seen? I have!
I have a serious need for all my gadgets to retain their brand new loveliness.
- Resale is higher
- It’s always got to look good
- I’m clumsy, I WILL drop it.
I’ve had my 3g iPhone for 4 months now (since launch on July 11th 2008) and am now on my 3rd case. I think I’ve cracked it now though.
I started with a Griffin Elan Form Case for £19.99 from Carphone Warehouse. It was OK, but not very elegant, and it didn’t show off the beauty of the iPhone in its entirety. Besides, it was the only case that I could get the day the iPhone came out!
So, after some time to do extensive research, and to give the enormous iPhone accessory market to get its a*** into gear, I purchased a shell case made entirely of a clear polycarbonate. This was the Gear4 Icebox Case. It was OK for a few months but became very scratched, the so-called “touch-sensitive shield” was not only sometimes unresponsive, but also got air bubbles and dust under it. Not good enough really.
So, after more research and reading online reviews, I decided on the ifrogz luxe.
Right, a description of it first. As you can see from the photo, it has a shell that covers the back of the phone. It’s made from a very light, very strong plastic. This comes in 2 halves and clips together using a beautifully designed round switch system. The top half is available in all sorts of sexy colours, and they all have a metallic look to them. I have the blue at the moment, but I have also ordered the orange and the red. The craftsmanship is a delight, and all the cut-outs for dock, camera, on/off, volume, are German engineering precise. The screen is protected by a stick-on, clear shield.
One of the best things about this case is the price, at only around £9.99. It’s available at Amazon.

Yes I agree… I made the mistake of going for an iFrogz TreadZ first – the luxe is a huge improvement.
