I’ll get this bit out of the way first. These headphones – the QuietComfort 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones – will set you back £269. Yes, 269 pounds, not dollars, not euros, but pounds.
Ok, that’s over with! Are they worth it – oh yes they are!
First, these headphones exude quality (as you would expect from a Bose product). They are kept in a very smart zip-up travel bag which holds the ‘phones themselves, a battery charger, an airline adapter, and the cables.
The BEST headphones, I have ever used!
These are perfect for geeks that often travel by air as they hold the technology to cancel ambient aircraft noise. This is why you need a small battery pack that you charge up beforehand. There’s a spare in the box so that you have enough for a total of 40 hours use! You also get loads of different adaptors for the battery charger, turning this into a truly international product.
So, the BIG question, how do they sound? In a word – WONDERFUL! Lots of bass, great clarity and an amazing depth of sound (What HiFi? – eat your heart out!). Although I haven’t flown with them, I tried them playing 256kps AAC tracks, watching DVD and playing games. Each time they performed magnificently! I have been absolutely bowled over by these headphones. I DO own a set of BOSE speakers plugged into my iMac and so I have become used to the high standards attributed to BOSE.
My recommendation? Buy these now! You won’t regret it!
Bose QuietComfort 3 Noise Cancelling Headphones

I have the Quietcomfort II (the larger ‘over ear’ versions), and I’ve used them on several long flights to Australia. The difference it makes to background noise is really noticeable, and I wouldn’t fly without them now.
