Thought I got a bargain this morning in Gamestation. An Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor for £29.99, IF you buy a new xbox product. So, after deliberating over the in-store advertising for about 3 seconds, I chose a £4.99 game and went to the till. But they didn’t have any to sell! No more will come in, no-one else has them! Bah, humbug!
I have written to the nice people at Gamestation (below) – to see what they think – especially as there’s loads of stock on their website – not at £29.99 but at £59.99!
The Elusive Xbox 360 adaptor
“I must say how disappointed I am after trying to buy a wireless xbox 360 network adaptor from your stores. I went into the Maidenhead store this morning and picked up on you fantastic offer of buying an adaptor for £29.99, if you buy new product. I took the case to the till to be told they were out of stock, they weren’t getting anymore, and no other Gamestation in the country had them (the salesman was obviously a genius as he didn’t need to check the till to tell me all this). I come home to discover that your website has lots of stock but at the unseasonally humbug price of £59.99!
Can you tell me please how I can obtain one of these wonderful devices for the price advertised in your stores? Or has the season of goodwill come to an end already?
Thanks for your email.
Here at Gamestation.co.uk the prices and bundles that are advertised may be different to the ones that are advertised in the Gamestation stores. This is because the Gamestation website and the Gamestation stores both operated as separate entities and therefore both have different prices.
When prices and bundles do differ the store will not be able to match the price that is on the Gamestation website and vice versa.
If you require any more information please do not hesitate to give us a call on 0845 345 0335 or drop us an email.
This is just an email sent by a Robot!
Anyway, I went to the High Wycombe branch today where the deal was again heavily advertised – lots of empty packets on display but no stock. I then went to Bracknell where I was told the deal finished on the 1st! Does anyone at Gamestation know what they are doing?
Have you been scammed in the Sales or at Xmas? Let me know and I’ll take it up for you!
We’ve had the Xbox now for over 2 years. I’ve had great fun killing aliens and Germans, but that sort of game isn’t very suitable to share with a 4 year old. Great fun was had by all downloading all the different demos on Xbox live, and then we discovered Lego Star Wars.
It’s a cracking game, full of humour, and any Star Wars fan will appreciate all the little in-jokes that are scattered all the way through. All 6 films are faithfully plotted in the game. The best thing though is that all the content is kid safe. There’s nothing better than being directed by my son to where all the secrets are or him helping me complete the puzzles.
The graphics are excellent, and all the original sound effects and musical score are used to make this game even more magical. When my son realised that this game was based on 6 movies, he was entranced by the droid characters R2-D2 and C3-PO.
This game is enormous in size and will take many hours to complete.
OK, I know there’s only just over a week ’til Xmas – but I thought it would be a good idea to list the Top 10 gadgets, that ANY geek would love to have at Xmas!
The Slingbox Classic
If you spend a lot of nights away, either in hotels on business, or on foreign getaways, I’m sure one of the first things you miss would be all the TV you’ve taped on your Sky+. Easy fix! Buy a Slingbox, connect it to your Sky/Freeview box, set up your network settings – and when you are away from home, merely run the slingbox software on your PC/Mac. Watch programes live, or watch your prerecorded programs.
The Apple iPod Nano – Lots of colours to choose from, now with a “GENIUS” feature, that finds similar songs on your device automatically. Get a refurb old gen model from the Apple Refurb Store, or the latest one, with the Genius and SHAKE shuffle feature below for just under £100.
This is my recommendation for a printer that can SCAN, COPY and PRINT photo quality. I love this one because it also prints onto printable BLANK CDs/DVDs and is also cheap to run. (I have the older MP610 – so can personally vouch for it.)
The fastest selling type of computer at the moment – tiny and portable. Run Linux or Windows XP – powerful enough to surf the web, send emails, word process, and run low tech games. The prices of these are plummeting, starting at less than £150 from Staples. This unit has 4gb of on board storage and 512mb RAM. The one to go for is the Acer Aspire ONE, that has 1gb RAM and a 120gb Hard Drive. This model even includes a webcam, wifi, card reader, etc. UNBELIEVABLE value at £215.
